Albanian protests intensify over Kushner-linked luxury resort plan

The site, near the protected Sazan Island wetland, is contested by local villagers who say the land is privately owned and was seized by armed guards. Prime Minister Edi Rama has refused to drop the project, arguing it will boost tourism and the economy, while opposition parties and civil‑society groups frame the dispute as evidence of corruption and a lack of transparency in the government’s foreign‑investment deals.
