Great American State Fair Faces Heat-Related Closures and Mixed Reviews
The Great American State Fair on the National Mall was forced to shut down for several hours on Friday after temperatures hit the triple digits. With a heat index reaching 100°F, organizers postponed activities until 5 p.m. to combat life-threatening conditions that reportedly left some visitors on life support. While the Texas exhibit—featuring Big Tex, Beyoncé, and the Alamo—received praise from visitors and U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, the overall event has faced criticism. Some attendees complained about shoddy organization, and reports emerged of mysterious numbers appearing on the Texas display, which some believe reference Donald Trump.
