Twin Earthquakes Kill at Least 235 in Venezuela, Thousands Still Missing
Two powerful earthquakes struck northern Venezuela on Wednesday, causing at least 235 deaths and more than 4,300 injuries, according to the health minister. Rescue teams, including international units, are combing through rubble in Caracas, La Guaira and surrounding towns, while neighbors and volunteers dig for loved ones. The disaster has displaced roughly 3,000 families and left up to 50,000 people missing, according to officials and local reporters. Aftershocks continue, hindering recovery, and authorities warn the death toll could rise sharply as more structures collapse and missing persons are accounted for.
