US Visa Restrictions Create Chaos for Iran National Team and World Cup Fans
The Iranian national team is facing logistical chaos ahead of the 2026 World Cup after the US denied visas to key technical staff and officials. While players were granted entry, the remaining restrictions may prevent the team from fulfilling FIFA mandates, such as attending required press conferences. The squad has arrived at their base camp in Mexico, but officials warn that some members may be forced to enter and leave the US on the same day. Beyond the team, the Trump administration's travel bans have sparked widespread anger among global supporters and journalists. The AIPS has labeled the "countless" visa denials for Iranian and African press as unacceptable. These geopolitical tensions, combined with high costs, are deterring international fans from attending the tournament.
