U.S. Maintains Kyiv Embassy as Zelenskyy Requests Air Defense Aid from Trump
The United States Embassy in Kyiv has dismissed reports that American diplomats have evacuated the Ukrainian capital, asserting that operations continue despite Kremlin warnings of "systematic strikes." This denial follows claims attributed to EU High Representative Kaja Kallas and stark threats from Moscow urging foreign missions to leave the city to avoid being bombed. Simultaneously, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has written to President Donald Trump and the U.S. Congress requesting urgent air defense munitions, specifically Patriot missiles. Zelenskyy warned of a critical shortage of interceptors needed to counter Russian ballistic and hypersonic missiles, a deficit exacerbated by global ammunition shortages.
