Mumbai Hosts Inaugural Climate Week, Uniting Global Leaders for Action
Mumbai is set to host the inaugural Mumbai Climate Week (MCW) from February 17-19, 2026, positioning the city as a global hub for climate dialogue and action from the Global South. The event, an initiative of Project Mumbai and supported by the Government of Maharashtra, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), aims to translate climate discussions into tangible solutions. These include a Cinema & Climate Showcase featuring the documentary 'Turtle Walker,' a discussion on food security titled 'Edible Futures,' and a civic gathering at the Museum of Solutions focused on grassroots waste management strategies. A top UN official has also emphasized the urgent need for nature-based cooling and climate-smart construction in Mumbai to combat rising heat.
