Four Dead and 16 Missing After Unfinished Building Collapses in Philippines
At least four people were killed and 16 others went missing after a nine-story unfinished hotel collapsed in Angeles City, Pampanga province, on May 24, 2026. The disaster occurred following a fierce thunderstorm, trapping numerous construction workers and guests beneath the rubble. Among the dead was a 65-year-old Malaysian man who had reportedly communicated with rescuers via phone while pinned under a wall. Emergency officials utilized K-9 dogs and life-locator equipment during a two-day search operation. While Mayor Carmelo Lazatin initially hoped to rescue survivors, authorities eventually terminated the mission after sensors indicated no further signs of life. Local officials are now investigating the cause of the structural failure.
