India is embarking on a decisive and multifaceted push to become a global leader in artificial intelligence and semiconductor manufacturing. Spearheaded by the government, this strategy involves a significant shift from India's traditional strength in chip design to establishing a full-fledged domestic manufacturing ecosystem. As highlighted by MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan, this includes major investments like Micron's forthcoming production, with plans to eventually develop critical High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) essential for AI.
