13 Wedding Guests Killed in Indonesia Highway Crash
On Sunday, a pickup truck carrying wedding guests was crushed between two trucks on a highway in Indramayu, Java, killing 13 people and injuring five others. The victims were returning from a wedding in Parean village when the driver slowed to make a U-turn and was struck from behind by a wing-box truck. Local traffic police chief Undang Syarif Hidayat confirmed the crash occurred on the northern coastal highway. The powerful collision hurled guests onto the road, and all 13 died at the scene. The five injured were taken to a hospital. The tragedy underscores ongoing concerns about road safety on Indonesia's busy highways, where accidents involving overloaded pickup trucks are common.
