A multinational team of specialist cave divers has successfully rescued the first of five survivors trapped in a flooded cave in Laos's Xaisomboun province. The group, which included gold miners, became trapped on May 19 after monsoon rains triggered flash flooding that blocked the cave's exit. While one man was safely brought to the surface Friday night, rescue operations were temporarily suspended until Saturday morning to prepare for the extraction of the remaining four survivors.
