Memphis Grizzlies select BYU guard Richie Saunders with No. 32 overall pick in 2026 NBA Draft
The Memphis Grizzlies chose BYU guard Richie Saunders with the 32nd overall selection in the second round of the 2026 NBA Draft. The pick makes Saunders the second BYU player taken that night, joining fellow Cougar AJ Dybantsa, and the first time in more than 60 years the school has had multiple draftees. Saunders, praised for his defensive intensity and play‑making, fits the Grizzlies’ “grit and grind” identity. Analysts note his family ties to the region and his modest upbringing, while the team highlighted his potential to contribute on both ends of the floor as they look to add depth to a roster built around toughness.
