OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Targeted in Two Attacks at SF Home
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has been the target of two separate attacks at his San Francisco residence within days. The first incident occurred when 20-year-old Daniel Alejandro Moreno-Gama allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail at the gate of Altman's home. Court documents reveal that Moreno-Gama, whose Texas home was later raided by the FBI, opposed AI in a 23-page diatribe sent to news organizations, viewing the technology as a threat to humanity. He has been charged in connection with this attack. Just days later, a second incident occurred when two suspects, identified by local reports as Amanda Tom and Muhamad Tarik Hussein, were arrested for the negligent discharge of a firearm outside the same residence. The suspects lived only blocks away from Altman. Police reported that the home was struck by gunfire during this event. Authorities are investigating both incidents, with the FBI executing a search warrant on a property in Spring, Texas, connected to the first suspect, Moreno-Gama. The motives appear to be separate, with the first attack explicitly linked to anti-AI sentiment in writings attributed to the suspect, while the second incident is currently being treated as a negligent discharge of a weapon. The investigations into both attacks are ongoing.
