Ukraine Launches Large-Scale Drone Strikes on St. Petersburg
Ukraine launched a series of long-range drone attacks targeting critical infrastructure in and around St. Petersburg, including an oil terminal, a naval base in Kronstadt, and a warship. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the drones traveled approximately 1,000 kilometers to strike these energy and military sites, causing fires and disrupting local traffic. The strikes coincided with the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, an annual event promoted by President Vladimir Putin. While Russian officials described the scale of the attack as unprecedented and reported shooting down 141 drones in the Leningrad region, no immediate casualties were reported. Residents were advised to stay indoors as the city faced potential internet disruptions.
